Description

Barn Hill Preserve is an 18-acre facility in Ethel, LA. We are home to over 150 animals consisting of 35+ species. Barn Hill is 10 years old and constantly evolving and growing. We travel to Costa Rica yearly to work with in situ conservation initiatives, while also fundraising through special events in the US. We are seeking dynamic, versatile, adaptable, and experienced people to join our close knit team.

We are currently looking for education team members!

The ideal candidate will be comfortable facilitating encounter tours to groups of 20+ guests as needed. Public speaking experience is a must.

Education keeper duties include:
• Maintain and care for Education Animal collection
• Work with team lead and other members of management to maintain animal husbandry, enrichment, and safety
• Communicate with department lead and zoo vet techs regarding animal health and safety concerns
• Train and socialize with Education Animal collection on a daily basis
• Ability to complete and keep records as required
• Handle and present a wide variety of animals for educational programs, such as encounter tours, birthday parties, summer camps and various other education programs

Skills desired include:
-Observation and communication skills
-Ability to multi-task
-Comfortability working with guests of all ages

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK WEEKENDS!

Education and Pre-requisites

REQUIREMENTS:
– 1 year experience preferred
-college degree in zoology or similar field preferred

Compensation and benefits

Pay starting at $12/hour but negotiable based on experience
10 days PTO per year
