Description
The New York State Zoo is located in Watertown’s Thompson Park, a historic Olmsted Park. This forested hill setting is the home for a diverse collection of the flora and fauna of New York State, both past and present.
The Animal Curator position will have the responsibility for the management of the entire animal collection and animal care staff.
Applicants for this position should be able to demonstrate animal expertise as well as leadership and communication skills.
The Animal Curator will work with zoo veterinarian, Education Department and be able to professionally represent the organization as needed.
Education and Pre-requisites
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Zoology or related field.
Five years’ experience in wildlife or zoo animal management with at least 2 years in a supervisory position.
Compensation and benefits
Salary range $42,000 to $47,000; commensurate with experience.
