Description

The New York State Zoo is located in Watertown’s Thompson Park, a historic Olmsted Park. This forested hill setting is the home for a diverse collection of the flora and fauna of New York State, both past and present.

The Conservation & Education Facilitator position directly cares for the education animal collection including our birds of prey, assists with conservation efforts, and is responsible for the daily onsite programming.
Applicants for this position should be able to demonstrate intermediate knowledge of animal husbandry including bird of prey training and handling.
The Conservation and Education Facilitator reports to the Curator of Conservation and Education and will work closely with zoo veterinarian, visitors, staff and must be able to professionally represent the organization as needed.

Education and Pre-requisites

Associate’s degree in Biology, Zoology or related field.
Two years experience in wildlife or zoo husbandry position with bird of prey experience.

Compensation and benefits

Commensurate with experience.
