Job Title: Canine Behaviorist

Job Status: Full-time

Job Description: Three Dimensional Dog is an in-home canine behavior consultancy and rehabilitation company located in Birmingham, Alabama. We seek an enthusiastic and passionate dog-lover to join our growing team of Canine Behaviorists. This team member will work directly in-home with families to develop and implement canine behavior modification strategies.

This position is perfect for those with previous zookeeper experience who seek mentorship to elevate to a long-term, sustainable career in the field of animal training and behavior.

Candidates must be flexible to work in an ever-changing environment, have enthusiasm for interacting with the public, and have a willingness to give regular presentations to various groups.

Duties include: Implementation of training strategies, work and collaboration with client services coordinators and a team of behaviorists, mentorship of staff, compliance with training protocols to the company standards, ongoing client support, frequent driving to clients’ homes, and completion of continuing education credits.

Education and Pre-requisites

Three or more years of professional experience at an AZA-accredited zoo is highly preferred.
Four-year degree in zoology, biology, psychology, or related fields is preferred, although sufficient relevant experience will be considered.
Must have good communication skills including strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
Must have a working computer, printer, and reliable transportation
Must be proficient with computers, typing, and data entry.
Must have experience training a variety of animals and a basic understanding of behavior shaping strategies.
Must be dependable, highly punctual, and willing to work flexible hours and weekends.
Must have an ability to employ training equipment.
Must be able to work outdoors and have the physical ability to perform strenuous work.
Must have a valid Alabama driver’s license.

Compensation and benefits

Full-time, Commission-based
Pay: Up to $76.30 per hour
Paid mentorship
