Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Do you have a passion for animal welfare science? Do you approach your work with an attitude that no job is too big or too small? If so, the Oregon Zoo’s Conservation Research group is seeking enthusiastic applicants who enjoy working with a passionate group of researchers in a friendly educational environment. Come be a part of our team!
Oregon Zoo Conservation Research is hosting one unpaid summer internship. The anticipated start date is late May / early June 2020 and the opportunity will conclude in September. This internship is designed to be educational in nature and will provide the student with real world experience that complements their academic training. We work with each student to define the nature and scope of their internship and to determine an appropriate work schedule.
The Conservation Research group works with keepers, researchers, volunteers, and veterinarians to contribute to both in situ and ex situ animal welfare and conservation. We assess animals’ physical and physiological state by monitoring behavior, body condition, and hormone levels which helps us better care for animals and improve their quality of life. At the Oregon Zoo, we hire a workforce representative of the communities we serve, understanding that a diverse workforce strengthens our organization. We value diversity and support a positive and welcoming environment where all of our employees can thrive.
Internships do not include experience working in animal areas.
