Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is seeking applicants for our Husbandry Internship program.

Internship Overview:

Several internship opportunities are available to hard working, self-motivated candidates interested in developing their careers and contributing to the success of the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. This program offers practical, on-the-job experience for those seeking a career in an Aquarium field. Positions work 24-32 hours a week.

Position Description:

This position assists Aviculture staff with the daily care of a diverse collection of birds, including penguins, raptors, parrots and budgerigars. Duties include animal observations, servicing animal habitats and holding areas, preparing diets, feeding the animal collection and public speaking for animal talks. This Aviculture department also runs the Penguin Pass program taking guests behind the scenes and teaching conservation messaging.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Ability to work in environmental conditions
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to climb stairs, kneel, and squat
General Requirements:

Must have the ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
Prefer candidates that are pursuing a degree in a Biology related field.
Must commit to a schedule.
Must pass a background check
May be subject to random drug screening
Must have strong communication skills and be comfortable engaging a diverse audience.
Willingness to work weekends, holidays, irregular hours and be available based on special needs/circumstances.
