Description
Must be at least 18 years old
College degree in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Communications or related field preferred
Mammal husbandry background preferred, elephant experience is not required
Robust communication skills: public speaking, guest relations, efficient communication with
teammates and elephants
Team-oriented; eager to learn and to give/receive constructive criticism on a continual
basis, regardless of prior experience
Flexible, able to place daily animal welfare above personal convenience and comfort
Creative, empathetic, self-aware, and attentive to various and disparate elements in a
complex environment
Hard-working, decisive, and able handle multiple responsibilities and prioritize appropriately
Positive attitude and the ability and desire to work in a dynamic, stimulating environment
Self-disciplined and trustworthy, able to follow carefully honed interaction and safety
guidelines
Keen observational skills with respect to individual animal behavior and the larger social

SCUBA certification, valid driver’s license required, and the ability to meet Company Driving
Guidelines
Able to work at least 40 hours a week and must be able to work a flexible schedule to
include evenings, weekends and holidays
Some heavy lifting required (must be able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly), and lots of time spent
outdoors in the Florida sunshine with our elephants and guests
Ability to climb heights of up to 6’
Perform tasks that require frequent: bending at waist, bending from waist to floor, simple
hand grasping and fine manipulation (use of keyboard/writing) kneeling, squatting, standing
and walking.
Work will take place primarily outdoors in Florida weather conditions.
Position may be exposed to heat/cold temperature extremes, chemicals, fumes/dust/odor,
indoor ac/no ac, motion, heights, noise exposure, vibrations, water exposure (rain, dew,
etc.) and night time lighting.
Experience will be evaluated to place candidate in appropriate career-ladder level, title, and
pay
Education and Pre-requisites
Comprehensive elephant behavior management, utilizing creative, positive reinforcement in
a choice-base, behaviorally progressive, PRT environment
Provide physical stimulation and mental challenges for our animals as a member of our elite
team of elephant professionals
Daily cleaning and maintenance of rolling habitat, husbandry facilities, multi-million-dollar
barn, and the Elephant Interaction Area
Husbandry training for veterinary and breeding program procedures
Active participation in behavioral research programs
Enthusiastically communicate with park guests the passion and pride of Busch Garden’s
Pachyderm Palace team
Daily record keeping
