POSITION SUMMARY:
Are you a proven leader with animal husbandry experience focused on exotic animals in a captive setting? Bring your skills to the Oregon Zoo where you will support the groundbreaking wildlife research and conservation programs at one of the region’s most popular attractions.

Under the general supervision of the Curator of Africa and Primates, this Area Supervisor provides direct supervision of assigned Animal Keepers. All variable-schedule Animal Keepers will report directly to this position. Duties include coordinating the activities of the Africa and primate section of the zoo; ensuring that the Animal Keepers in this area have the necessary training, tools, equipment and supplies to successfully perform their jobs; performing administrative functions such as scheduling, timekeeping, evaluations and progressive discipline; ordering, receiving and distributing materials, supplies and food items; facilitating animal care operations within the Africa and primate section of the Zoo; reviewing, developing and/or revising standard operating procedures or other reports; and conducting or coordinating safety training.

Evening and weekend work will be required.
