Entry rate: $22.06; 6 months; $23.45; 18 months: $24.92; 30 months: $26.48; 42 months: $28.15/hour

Work area: Oregon Zoo – Marine Life, North America, Herps and Fish.
Work week: Full-time: Thursday through Monday (Tuesday and Wednesday off)
Shift: 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This Animal Keeper position will learn and perform all animal keeping routines working with marine mammals, large carnivores, a variety of mammals native to the Pacific Northwest, as well as a diverse collection of reptiles, amphibians and fish. The keeper in this position is responsible for day-to-day husbandry activities and additional essential job duties as listed below.

Education and Pre-requisites

• Three years professional animal keeper experience working with carnivores, hoofstock, marine mammals, small mammals, reptiles, amphibians and fish, and
• Bachelor degree in biology, zoology, or related subjects relevant to the care of zoo animals, or
• Any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the classification duties and responsibilities.
• SCUBA certification required.
• Possession of, or the ability to obtain, First Aid/CPR certification.
