Description

Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary is accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries providing lifelong care to surrendered, abandoned and confiscated exotics and native Nevada wildlife. We are currently seeking enthusiastic candidates for three and six-month fall/winter and spring internships. Although we offer three month internships, priority will go to applicants that can commit to the six-month positions. Candidates will gain extensive experience in animal husbandry including implementing our enrichment program and training, providing informal educational outreach presentations and habitat building. Candidates will be responsible for the training/operant conditioning of a specific resident for wellness and health checks.
Start Date is negotiable.

Education and Pre-requisites

Education and Pre-Requisites
*Must be 21 years of age
*Degree in Zoology, Biology or Animal Sciences but will consider prior experience in lieu of a degree.
*Must be in good physical condition and able to lift at least 50 lbs.
*Must be willing and able to work in inclement weather and Holidays.
*Tetanus vaccination required

Compensation and benefits

This is an unpaid position but free onsite housing and utilities plus $200 per month stipend is provided.
