Position Summary:
The Oregon Zoo is pleased to be accepting applications for a Limited Duration Animal Keeper –Condors position.

This grant funded limited duration position has not been formally approved yet, but is expected to have an assignment ending two years from the appointment date. The fully approved position is anticipated as of March, 2019.

Entry rate: $22.06; 6 months; $23.45; 18 months: $24.92; 30 months: $26.48; 42 months: $28.15/hour

Work area: Jonsson Center for Wildlife Conservation
Work week: Full-time: Thursday through Monday (Tuesday and Wednesday off)
Shift: 0630-1500, 0700-1530, 0830-1700, 1000-1830 will vary seasonally

The Limited Duration Animal Keeper –Condors position specializes in the care and propagation of California Condors (CACO). The keeper in this position is responsible for day-to-day husbandry activities and additional essential job duties as listed below, and will be required to have an extensive background in CACO propagation. Candidates, please be aware that while this position’s assignment is currently in the Condor area, based on collection and staffing needs the area assignment is subject to change at management’s discretion.

Education and Pre-requisites

• Three years professional animal keeper experience in the propagation of California Condors; and
• A Bachelor’s degree in biology, zoology, or related subjects relevant to the care of zoo animals; or
• Any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the classification duties and responsibilities.
• Five or more years of previous related experience working in the propagation of California Condors is preferred.

Compensation and benefits

Salary: $22.06 – $28.15 hourly
