Responsibilities Include:
Daily inspection and evaluation of animals, animal exhibits and buildings. Planning, supervising and directing the work required for the care, welfare, display, propagation and procurement of the zoo’s animal collection. Supporting and directing animal related projects (transfers, acquisitions, etc) in accordance with the director’s guidance. Maintaining and reviewing daily logs of animal observations and/or daily operations; implementing, developing and/or revising animal care standards and operating procedures to ensure proper care, maintenance and safety of the animals and their facilities. Hiring, training and planning for the continuing development of the animal care and educational teams. Providing feedback and direction on animal presentations as well as rewriting scripts to keep them fresh and relevant. Ensuring that all animal areas are maintained in a manner that reflects ZooWorld’s high standards. Monitoring animal feed budgets and procuring feed items. This position is the lead member of the Animal Capture Team

Will have a solid and provable animal background that may include the successful propagation of a variety of species, hand rearing experience, the mastery of basic zookeeping skills and industry contacts. Must be an effective leader who understands how to set and meet goals and motivate staff.
