Description

We are looking for a live in caretaker at our USDA wolfdog sanctuary in Middletown, OH. Candidates must have a passion for animal welfare and have education and/or experience in handling large animals. The position includes daily feeding/cleaning of habitats, some maintenance and repairs, some grounds work, must be able to lift 50 lbs. The candidate may also interact with the public, help host events and offer tours. The job requires animal care either mornings, or possible evenings, 5 days a week. (We have 3 caretakers on the property and the tasks are shared.) Candidates will enjoy living rent free in a private suite plus private bath in a large farmhouse. Communal living downstairs. Utilities are shared. The candidate may have an outside job as well.

Education and Pre-requisites

Your Skills and Expertise,
The Red Riding Hood Rescue Project is looking for someone with:
Working knowledge of animal behavior and animal training based on experience.
Exercise sound judgment in analyzing animal behavior concerns, emergencies and to respond with appropriate action.
Sufficient strength and coordination to work with these strong and flighty animals.
Safely use common hand power, and yard tools while working from the ground, on a scaffold, or a ladder.
Must be highly motivated, organized, and demonstrate a willingness to adapt positively to change.
Possess excellent public speaking skills to deliver quality educational tours.
Associate or bachelor’s degree in animal science is a plus, or combination of training and experience.
Must be 18 years of age or older with a clean driving record for vehicle operation.
Must complete a Background Check, and Drug Screen.

Compensation and benefits

Free living in a large farm house on 20 beautiful acres. Job duties are shared with other caretakers. Applicants may hold an outside job that doesn’t interfere with the caretaker duties.
