Description

The animal caregiver position at the Oklahoma Primate Sanctuary provides direct care to over 80 monkeys retired from research and rehomed from the pet trade. Duties include but are not limited to: basic animal husbandry including diet prep, feeding, cleaning of enclosures and houses, as well as basic maintenance of grounds and enclosures. Behavioral husbandry including operant conditioning, behavioral observations, and enrichment (familiarity with Zoo Monitor a plus).

Education and Pre-requisites

The successful candidate will preferably have experience with various species of primates (experience with macaques a plus), or other taxa in a zoological or sanctuary setting. Internships and direct care volunteer experience will be considered. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, and perform physical labor on a regular basis is necessary.

Compensation and benefits

$11.50/hr, paid holidays, and 40hrs PTO.
