Description

Applications are currently being accepted for a full-time Animal Care Supervisor in the Indonesian Rain Forest section. This section includes an immersive tropical rain forest experience featuring a domed-roof aviary and Indonesian animals including Sumatran orangutans, Javan gibbons, wrinkled hornbills, tree shrews, Sumatran tigers, and a variety of rain forest bird and reptile species.

The Animal Care Supervisor is a working leadership position that provides direct supervision of employees, coordination of daily operations, contribution to positive guest experiences, and performance of zoo keeper duties as required. This position oversees the husbandry of all species located in the Indonesian Rain Forest to ensure appropriate animal wellbeing. The Animal Care Supervisor reports to the Area Curator. Education and Pre-requisites

A Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences or a related field and three years of experience in a zoological setting are required. Demonstrated ability in water systems, large carnivores and great apes, and operant conditioning is preferred.

Compensation and benefits

This is a full-time position requiring availability for a 40-hour work week year-round.
