We’re Hiring!!
Barn Hill Preserve is an 18-acre facility in Ethel, LA. We are home to over 100 animals consisting of 35+ species. We are a relatively new facility at 8 years old that is constantly growing. Our sister non-profit organization recently spent 2 months in Australia helping with bushfire rescue. We are seeking a dynamic, versatile, adaptable, and experienced person to join our close knit team.
The animal care staff will be responsible for providing daily enrichment, cleaning, and feeding of our animal population. The population includes a variety of taxa from reptiles to birds to small carnivores. Requirements for the position include:
– general knowledge of husbandry best practices
– Animal training experience, show experience a plus
– Excellent observation skills
– General managerial skills
– Record keeping skills
– Ability to work efficiently both independently and as a team member
In addition to animal care, the ideal candidate will be comfortable facilitating encounter tours to groups of 20+ guests as needed. Public speaking experience is a must.
Education and Pre-requisites
REQUIREMENTS:
– 2 years experience preferred or comparable college degree in zoology or related field
Compensation and benefits
Pay: starting at $13/hour but negotiable based on experience
Housing can be provided
