Description
General Description:
A highly motivated individual who will perform duties associated with the
husbandry and maintenance of exotic animals in an education and conservation- oriented
facility. Interns will be guided by full time keeper staff that will mentor and coach them during
their internship. They will be involved in assisting in projects. Due to the hazards associated with
animal care, interns are restricted in access areas.
Our internship program is an unpaid position, but our interns are paid in incomparable
experience in exotic animal husbandry.
Job Responsibilities:
● Daily cleaning of exhibits, holding areas, and general grounds
● Food preparation (from written instructions) and animal feedings
● Daily observation and reporting of animal behaviors
● Maintenance of exhibits and animal areas (with assistance from other staff)
● Offer enrichment to animals
● Learn about capture and restraint, training, and medicating from staff
● Serve visitors by answering questions
● Completion of a project (optional)
● Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor
Education and Pre-requisites
Must be at least 18 years of age and in college or recently graduated.
Compensation and benefits
Internship is unpaid and can be part time or full time.
