Description

We are currently accepting internships applications with start dates ranging from immediate to June 1, 2020. Internships focus heavily on animal care and public education.
While here, interns fulfill a large range of duties. Internships include working with the animals directly and working with the public to help educate them about the animals that reside at the zoo. We house over 40+ species of mammals, birds, and reptiles – ranging from reindeer and camels to otters, wolves, hyena, sloth and alligators. Interns learn to prepare diets, maintain the cleanliness of the animal food prep kitchen, clean animal habitats, bottle feed babies, maintain health records, help with health initiatives, maintain animal habitats, prepare animal enrichment, etc. Interns are on a rotation schedule that allows them to work with and experience all species and areas of the zoo.
Interns also learn to help with our educational programs

Education and Pre-requisites

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be a recent college graduate.
Must be capable of the physical requirements to work in a zoo setting (ie. lift 50 pounds, etc.).
Must be able to work with and without direct supervision.
Must be able to follow oral and written directions.

Compensation and benefits

Stipend and housing.
