Description

WildCat Ridge Sanctuary has current openings for four Animal Care Interns starting immediately. WCR is home to over 50 captive-born wildcats and hybrids. We are looking for hardworking individuals who are dedicated to providing care for the wildcat rescues while maintaining strict safety protocol.

(WildCat Ridge Sanctuary is a No-Contact facility, contact is prohibited between the wildcat residents and all interns and staff)

The animal internship program provides valuable knowledge and experience with exotic feline husbandry while educating about the active wildlife crisis. We have some very exciting opportunities happening this Spring and Animal Care Interns will be a part of this! WCR is not open to the public allowing the Animal Care Interns to devote all their time to caring for the wildcat residents without taking time away to do tours. This provides an incredible opportunity to get to know each and every one of the animals that they work with on a more personal level.

Some of the training offered:

• Animal Observation: methods to assess an animal’s behavior and their environment

• General Animal Information: protocol for keeping records of all aspects of sanctuary care

• Small Felid Husbandry: teaches daily care of domestics and hybrid cats

• Enrichment: procedures for creating enrichment for all animals on-site

• Food Preparation: policies and procedures for food preparation, feeding, and watering for the wildcats

• Medication and Supplements: learn medications/supplements used for the residents and the best way to safely administer treatment

• Cleaning: procedures used for cleaning indoor and outdoor habitats
• Learn Operant Conditioning for the residents

WildCat Ridge Sanctuary is a 501(c) 3-lifetime sanctuary for captive born wildcats. The facility is located in Scotts Mills Oregon.
