Description
Six-month winter/spring internship. Located in northern Nevada, Safe Haven provides lifelong care to surrendered, abandoned and confiscated exotics and interim care for native Nevada wildlife eligible for release.
Candidate will be required to reside onsite and provide own transportation. Safe Haven provides onsite housing, utilities, phone and limited internet.
Position responsibilities include diet preparation and daily feedings, enclosure cleaning, implementing an enrichment and operant conditioning program, providing educational presentations, assist with habitat building and participating in annual fundraisers.
Education and Pre-requisites
Minimum of two (2) years of related studies in biology, zoology or animal science.
Prior animal husbandry experience.
Ability to interface with the public.
Must have valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
Must be willing to work in inclement weather.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Compensation and benefits
This is an unpaid position. Onsite housing and utilities are provided and a $200.00 per month stipend.
