Tacoma, WA — The Point Defiance Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) is proud to announce it will host the 51st Annual AAZK National Conference, taking place September 13–17, 2026, in Tacoma, Washington. (AAZK 2026)
This highly anticipated annual event will bring together animal care professionals, conservation advocates, educators, and students from across North America to share knowledge, build professional connections, and celebrate the animal-care community. The AAZK National Conference is hosted by a different AAZK chapter each year and serves as a cornerstone event for professional development and conservation engagement in the zoological field. (AAZK)
Conference programming will include professional certificate courses, workshops, paper and poster presentations, keynote speakers, and networking opportunities, as well as “Zoo Day” experiences at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium and Northwest Trek Wildlife Park. (AAZK 2026)
The Point Defiance AAZK Chapter is recognized for its strong commitment to conservation, professional development, and community engagement. In 2025, the chapter was honored with the AAZK Chapter of the Year Award, reflecting its leadership in conservation fundraising, educational programming, and member involvement.
