Tigers for Tomorrow is a non-profit facility dedicated to the well-being, safety and care of all animals. The facility is located in Northeast Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Tigers for Tomorrow has 2 positions available for 6 month, full time interns. Tigers for Tomorrow is home to over 150animals and is a last stop rescue. Work is physically demanding, and being self-motivated while working in a team environment is important. Working in various weather conditions is required. This is a strict no contact with predators positions.
Interns are responsible for:
Basic husbandry of tigers, lions, cougars, leopards, lynx, wolves, bears, and hoof stock and other various species
Cleaning and maintaining habitats and animal housing
Prepare diets and monitor feeding daily
Make daily observations of animals and report any abnormalities to supervisor
Providing animal enrichment
Presenting and educating the public by means of tours and talking with the public
Education and Pre-requisites
A degree in Zoology, Biology or related field or working towards a degree in a related field is preferred, but experience with exotic animal husbandry may be considered.
Requirements:
Be able to lift 50 pounds
Work in outdoor conditions
Work 6 days a week from 8am-6pm, or until done
Valid driver license, and transportation
Compensation and benefits
$50.00 a week cash stipend. Housing and all utilities is provided nearby.
