Description
Tanganyika Wildlife Park is seeking a full time Keeper for a large collection of Black Footed Penguins. Must be able to identify individual birds by their breast pattern. Must be able to properly care for the birds. Must be able to identify between a healthy animal and an animal that is ill. Must be able to train animals for health and well being. Must be able to maintain the salt system and pumps along with all other pool maintenance. Must also be able to document all behavior, daily fish intake, and medical information for each individual bird.
Our mission is to share our passion for animals by providing real experiences that are entertaining and educational in order to have a significant impact in the stewardship of select species. We all looking for an individual that can provide a stress free breeding environment to grow the population along with additional training that allows for the right birds to participate in penguin swims with the public, penguin ambassadors, and our very popular penguin that walks down the isle during weddings.
Education and Pre-requisites
A Bachelors degree in a Biology related field is preferred but not required. Must have at least one year paid experience as a lead working with a species of Penguins.
Compensation and benefits
Pay will be based on experience level.
Health benefits are not available at this time. We do offer a plan through Aflac and we offer a simple IRA after working for a year.
