HISTORY OF THE PROGRAM
Founded in 2009, Trees For You and Me (TFYM) began as a friendly competition among zookeepers to raise funds for tree planting and polar bear conservation. With the support of the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK), Polar Bears International, and AAZK Chapters across the country, TFYM quickly grew into a collaborative effort making a meaningful impact both locally and internationally.
Over the years, TFYM has evolved beyond its original focus, expanding its reach to support wildlife conservation efforts around the globe. Through the creation of the TFYM Restoration Grant, funds have helped protect and restore habitat for a wide range of species, including red pandas, golden lion tamarins, rhinoceroses, sandhill cranes, and more.
Today, TFYM continues to grow its mission through a new partnership with AAZK Conservation Partner, The Katie Adamson Conservation Fund (KACF). Together, TFYM and KACF are working to combat climate change and promote community sustainability through habitat restoration projects in Costa Rica—ensuring a healthier planet for wildlife and people alike.
