Description
The Oklahoma Primate Sanctuary is seeking a part-time (with potential for temporary full-time) position on our animal caregiving team. Successful candidate will contribute to the animal and behavioral husbandry of over 100 primates retired from research and the pet trade. Primates include: macaques, capuchins, vervets, patas, and lemurs.
Education and Pre-requisites
Prefer candidate with, or working towards, an undergraduate degree in relevant field (biology, zoology, anthropology, environmental sciences, vet tech etc.), and experience with exotic animals, or some combination thereof.
The ability to work both independently and within a team is essential.
Dependable and reliable.
Good time management and organizational skills.
Excellent oral and written communication.
Well developed observational skills.
Ability to follow complex instructions and ability to apply acquired knowledge to novel situations.
Work conditions include working outside in sometimes inclement weather including extreme heat and cold, as well as rain and snow.
Ability to lift at least 50lbs
Candidate must be able to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Negative TB test.
Compensation and benefits
Starting pay is $10.50/hr; 24 hrs/week. Temporary full-time hours are available.
