Denver Zoo’s Animal department has an opportunity for a full-time zookeeper to work with a diverse collection of tropical freshwater and marine fishes, amphibians, reptiles and some mammals. The primary responsibilities will include relief in one of two fish sections but will involve any of the other 3 sections that do not have fish. There are some mammals in the facility which include fruit and vampire bats, prehensile tail porcupine, capybara and howler monkeys. Additional responsibilities include leading behind the scenes tours, presenting animal programs and potentially serving on various zoo committees. The candidate will also be required to handle venomous snakes during emergencies after properly being trained and certified. Candidates should be scuba certified, have experience with a diversity of tropical freshwater and marine fishes at an AZA accredited facility and a clear driving record.
