Description

Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary provides lifelong care to abandoned, confiscated and surrendered exotics and native Nevada wildlife. Species include tigers, African lions, cougars, black bears, bobcats, servals, caracals, lynx, foxes and coyotes.

We are seeking enthusiastic energetic candidates for two Spring/Summer six-month animal keeper positions. Candidates will gain experience in animal husbandry including implementing our enrichment program and training, providing educational outreach presentations to the public and habitat building. Internships includes the training/operant conditioning of a specific resident for wellness and health checks.

Education and Pre-requisites

*Must be 21 years of age
*Degree in Zoology, Biology or Animal Sciences preferred, but will consider prior exotic care experience.
*Must be in good physical condition and able to lift at least 50 lbs.
*Must be willing and able to work in inclement weather
*Tetanus vaccination required

Compensation and benefits

This is an unpaid position but free onsite housing and utilities plus $200 per month stipend is provided.
