The Randall Oaks Park and Zoo is looking for Spring Zoo Interns to join our team!!
This is an unpaid Internship designed to help students and recent graduates gain important skills to help them succeed in the animal field. Zoo Interns will be responsible for helping in the daily care and operations in the zoo including but not limited to diet prep, feeding, cleaning, asisting in husbandry care, light maintenance and construction, observations, enrichment, and training. Internships completed while the park is open to the public will also include assisting in educational presentations and interacting with the public.

Schudule:
◦All applications must be received by February 23, 2018
◦Spring Internship starts on March 12, 2018
◦Interns must complete 250 hours over the course of 10 to 12 weeks, this makes for 25 to 30 hours a week.
◦Interns must be flexible with their schedule, and have the ability to work weekdays, weekends, and holiday.
◦You will choose a total of 3 or more shifts for the week and those will be your set shifts thru your entire internship. The available shifts are 7am to noon, 11am to 3:30p, and 7am to 3:30pm.

Education and Pre-requisites

Requirements:
◦Must be either a recent graduate of college (within the last two years) or current college student in a degree in the related field.
◦Be capable of the physical abilities required to work in the zoo (e.g. lift 50 pounds, frequent bending and stooping, etc.)
◦Be capable of standing for extended periods of time and working in an outdoor environment under any weather condition.
◦Ability to work without direct supervision.
◦Ability to follow both oral and written direction
◦Ability to work the schedule agree upon.
◦Ability to interact positively with the public, especially to give them information about the animals at the zoo.
◦Ability to responsibily use and maintain zoo equipment and tools
◦Must be at least 18 years of age
◦Candidates must submit and pass a background check

Compensation and benefits

This is an unpaid internship. Uniform is provided.
