The Lemur Conservation Foundation (LCF) is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of lemurs through captive breeding, non-invasive scientific research, education, and reintroduction. LCF sits on a 100-acre, non-public, AZA certified reserve in Myakka City, Florida. The lemurs live naturally in two fenced, pristine forests, yet are readily available for educational and research projects conducted by undergraduate and graduate students from national universities. In Madagascar, LCF partners with Tampolo Forest Station on the island’s northeast coast, to encourage environmental sustainability and education to help forestall deforestation in addition to promoting collaborative research projects and a researcher exchange program.
Rocky Shores/Tundra Internship

The Rocky Shores/Marine Mammal internship is an in-depth program requiring a 32 to 40 hour per week commitment, for a minimum of 400 hours and at least ten weeks. Interns must be flexible with their schedule, and have the ability to work weekdays, weekends and holidays. It is an unpaid position and there is no housing provided. We will do everything possible to accommodate school requirements for those who can earn class credit for internships.
The internship program at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium is designed to provide participants with practical learning experience and knowledge in the field of animal husbandry (with an emphasis on marine mammals and seabirds). In return, the intern makes a significant contribution to the Rocky Shores area at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium.
