Trees for You and Me Down to the Wire
Dear AAZK Chapters,
The last day to ensure a Trees for You & Me-style win for your team is right around the corner! Donations will be accepted until 12:00 midnight MST March 1, 2012, for this year’s competition.
In order for each AAZK chapter to receive proper credit, please follow the donation procedures outlined in the instructions. Need a copy? Just open the “Trees for You & Me” folder here.
Where is the Polar Bear Forest?
Wisconsin is currently the home state for Polar Bear Forest plantings. They are a part of a pilot tree-planting program to help the public make the connection between planting trees and restoring polar bear habitat.
To date, all PBI donations for tree planting in the State of Wisconsin have been directed to publically owned lands–the Kettle Moraine State
Forest (2010), Juneau County Forest and the City of Sparta (2011), and Florence County Forest and the Cities of Merrill and Sparta in 2012.
State and county forests are SFI- and FSC-certified and are required to implement Best Management Practices. The publically owned lands are managed under long-term sustainable forest management concepts, including multiple-use benefits in areas such as wildlife habitat, water quality, recreation, endangered resources, and growing future forest products for an ever-consuming society.
