Gulf Breeze Zoo consists of 20 exhibited acres, housing several species of large carnivore, small primate, birds, reptiles and domestics. I addition, it boasts a 30-acre open preserve that is home to a variety of free-ranging hoofstock, as well as two groups of great apes. The facility has been in existence since 1984 and is embarking on an exciting new era that includes new ownership and zoo wide renovations. We are looking for several new staff members to join our animal care team during this exciting transformation.

Responsibilities

Daily duties will include the husbandry and care associated with feeding and cleaning animal enclosures, diet preparation, building and grounds upkeep, routine animal medications, public interaction and other duties as directed by the Area Supervisor. There is a strong emphasis placed on observation and record keeping.

Requirements

Qualified candidates will possess a four-year degree in a biology- related field with some animal experience or an associate degree with a minimum of two [2] years paid experience at a related facility. This person must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. without struggle and have the ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions. All positions require weekend and holiday work. Applicants must be enthusiastic and outgoing, while completing their daily husbandry duties, as well as when interacting with the public. All positions require daily interaction with guests.

Gulf Breeze Zoo holds its staff members to the highest of appearance standards. We do not hire individuals with visible facial piercings or tattoos and do not allow smoking during working hours.

Compensation

Salary is based on experience.

Health care benefits are available after a 90-day probationary period.
