Application Deadline: 03/22/2010
Description
The Commissary is the single source of all diets and supplies for the Zoo and plays a critical role for maintaining the health of our animals. Nutrition students work with the Zoo's Nutritionist and Commissary Manager to provide diets for all of our animals. Students will assist with daily diet deliveries, preparation of orders and special diet mixes, and maintain a clean working environment. Opportunities for research and maintaining records are also available. Interns must be able to perform very heavy work (lifting up to 50 pounds of force frequently), work in extreme temperature changes, and will be exposed to hay and cleaning agents.
These positions are offered year-round and can take place in one of three sessions: Winter/Spring (January-April), Summer (May-August), and Fall (September-December). Typically, Interns work 40 hours per week for a minimum of 12 weeks in length. Intern positions are experience based and are therefore unpaid. Housing and transportation are the responsibility of the Intern.
